Shaun is a Software Engineer who has been working at Codethink for just over a year, and before this was working in motor sport designing electronics for racing vehicles. At Codethink, Shaun has been working on safety for autonomous vehicles. He has been working with MIT performing a safety analysis of an Open Source autonomous vehicle platform, using STPA which is a top-down systems safety analysis technique. The aim of the project is to create a base set of safety requirements which is widely applicable to all autonomous vehicles, and the further aim for Codethink is to develop methods which can be used to derive software safety requirements, and have software architecture led by system safety.
